Trauma & PTSD support

At Marworth, we recognize the connection between addiction and trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Statistics tell us trauma survivors are at increased risk for substance misuse, and those with substance use disorder are more likely to have complex trauma histories.

Marworth uses targeted support groups to help people who’ve had past trauma. Our team can help with these trauma symptoms:

  • Difficulty managing stress
  • Difficulty connecting with others
  • Feeling unsafe
  • Flashbacks or recurrent dreams
  • Disassociation
  • Sense of blame to self or others
  • Inability to remember key aspects of trauma
  • Grief
  • Survivor's guilt

Our addiction treatment program also offers trauma support through Seeking Safety: Trauma and PTSD Support Groups, which focus on topics such as:

  • Grounding skills
  • Asking for help
  • Boundaries
  • Recovery thinking
  • Anger and trauma

Call Marworth at 800-442-7722 or email marworth@marworth.org to speak with an admissions counselor. You can enroll in a substance use recovery program yourself or refer someone else for treatment. Many people are referred to Marworth by a family member, family doctor, therapist, employer, employee assistance program, insurance provider, clergy, community organization or another drug and alcohol center.
